![]() ![]() It took 8 to 10 tries to stop this from happening. On the eighth day the printer started loading paper on it own, no print job pending, and would then jam. The photo printing was top notch with excellent color and clarity. The printer operated properly for 7 days. This is apparently a known problem and happens frequently during the printer setup. I had to go on-line to get this to function. Instead, notepad opened with a couple of pages of meaningless text. The printer set-up went reasonably well but getting the WiFi wireless connection to work took several attempts to complete. I purchased this printer to replace my 5 year old HP C309a photosmart printer that indicated the print head had failed. If photo quality is a key factor, you may be better off to look at an Epson. I don't think the Brother devices can compete in terms of photo image quality, but in terms of overall reliability and longevity, not to mention cost of ownership including ink and toner, they trump HP almost every time. The overall build quality and reliability has gone downhill to the point that I have more often used Brother products than HP in recent years. ![]() I work in the IT industry, and while this is clearly a fairly inexpensive printer, (thus, you get what you pay for) my experience with HP's products has been similar for years, even with much more expensive models. In short: HPs print quality is good to excellent (as is the basic print quality of most other vendors at this point) but their hardware and software have been on a steady downhill trajectory for years, as illustrated by this device. (The corruption not being completely surprising given the number of transfers it has taken between devices, software and the cloud to get to the point where printing a photo (at least directly from the photo tray) is an option.Ĥ. Alternatively, you can create a Snapfish account and upload your photos, then download to the printer, then select them, then select again, then one more time, only to be told that you are a) out of paper or b) the photo is corrupted. Your best bet will be to insert a camera card and go through the photos on the printer screen. If you choose not to load HP's software, printing photos from your PC is a painful process at best. Also, says something has gone wrong and randomly restarts every so often when I try to print anything.ģ. After clicking OK for the umpteenth time, it prints the photo, and then says the paper is out again on the next photo and I am forced to start fiddling with the damn thing again.
